How far along? 23 Weeks

Baby Size: According to “The Bump” baby is the size of a grapefruit. He’s beasting along in there.

Weight gain: 18lbs

Maternity clothes? Maternity clothes and leggings, and my husbands snow pants. My winter coat no longer zips comfortably and Pat’s snow pants fit fine. The belly is growing large!

Belly Button in or out? Out

Best moment this week: Lots of movement and his sleep/movement patterns are very similar to his older brother’s. They have a lot of similarities in their womb experience.

Miss Anything? Not that I can think of. My sleep has been off this week, but I think that has more to do with catching up from last week than it does from baby.

Movement: A lot of movement that seems to be getting stronger by the day.

Food cravings: Oranges.

Gender: Boy!

Looking forward to: Big brother being able to feel baby kick.

How far along? 22 Weeks

Baby Size: According to “The Bump” baby is the size of a coconut. According to our ultrasound this week he’s over 1lb and measuring two weeks ahead.

Weight gain: 16lbs

Maternity clothes? Yes! Plus yoga pants.

Belly Button in or out? Out

Best moment this week: Seeing our baby on the ultrasound, and Pat finally feeling baby kick on the outside.

Miss Anything? Being able to comfortably bend over my son’s crib.

Movement: Movements are getting MUCH stronger. He also gave me a swift kick right to the bladder this week. It was not amazing.

Food cravings: Veggies. In everything.

Gender: Boy!

Looking forward to: Having some idea of where we will be living when baby arrives.

I wanted to talk about weight in pregnancy again because it just feels like such a roller coaster of an issue. Medically speaking the information is out there. If you are of average weight, the recommendation is that you...

Healthy Pregnancy 2 – 21 Weeks

Uncategorized Feb 08, 2017

How far along? 21 Weeks

Baby Size: According to “The Bump” baby is the size of an endive.

Weight gain: 15lbs

Maternity clothes? Yep! I even got some workout capris, running pants, and long sleeve. I never needed maternity workout clothes when I was pregnant with Nate – not bottoms at least!

Belly Button in or out? Out

Best moment this week: Baby is getting strong! Love feeling those kicks. I have also had a lot more energy this week (FINALLY!).

Miss Anything? Being able to roll on my back in my sleep. With my first I could roll onto my back in my sleep and it was no issue. I asked my doctor about it and he assured me that I would wake up if there was too much pressure from my uterus. This time I definitely wake-up and wish that I could better prevent rolling onto my back in my sleep. It’s just too comfortable!

Movement: Getting stronger!

Food cravings: Nothing really.

Gender: Boy!

Looking forward to: Pat...

How far along? 20 Weeks WHOOOOAAA WE’RE HALFWAY THERE!

Baby Size: According to “The Bump” baby is the size of a banana.

Weight gain: We are traveling so I haven’t checked my weight this week.

Maternity clothes? Leggings are still my jam. I think I will invest in some maternity running pants/capries.

Belly Button in or out? Out

Best moment this week: Feeling baby kick more, and getting in some outdoor runs!

Miss Anything? Since I have been able to run outside this week, and felt so great after, I am missing that a lot!

Movement: I’m starting to feel movement more frequently, but it’s still light.

Food cravings: I have been loving nectarines! Otherwise we have been eating some really nutritious food this week, which I will share below.

Gender: We found out last week we have another boy on the way!

Looking forward to: Feeling stronger kicks and watching the belly continue to grow.

Healthy Pregnancy 2 – 19 Weeks

How far along? 19 Weeks

Baby Size: According to “The Bump” baby is the size of a mango.

Weight gain: 8lbs

Maternity clothes? I rocked my belly-band this week, which was cool for a few hours. I just hate not being extremely comfortable, so I think I’m just committed to maternity clothes at this point even though they are kind of big still. I have a really comfortable dress that’s probably my new favorite piece.

Belly Button in or out? Out

Best moment this week: Teaching our son where “baby” is (he points to my stomach). It’s adorable.

Miss Anything? Fitting into clothes (maternity or not – I hate

Movement: Still flutters and looking forward to stronger movement.

Food cravings: I really wanted a juicy nectarine this week.

Gender: We find out today! I will post on the blog next week, but I will likely update on Instagram and Facebook over the weekend.

Looking forward...

Healthy Pregnancy 2 – 18 Weeks

How far along? 18 Weeks

Baby Size: According to “The Bump” baby is the size of an artichoke.

Weight gain: 9lbs. Not sure what’s going on with my scale? I doubt I am actually fluctuating so much.

Maternity clothes? I found some maternity jeans that are long enough for me this week! It felt like a victory. They’re still pretty big but I don’t care. I’m sick of leggings.

Belly Button in or out? Out

Best moment this week: Feeling baby’s kicks get stronger.

Miss Anything? I’ve had a little cold this week, which zapped me of any energy I was finally starting to gain. So, still missing energy.

Movement: Mostly flutters still, but I did feel a pretty strong kick one night while I was laying down.

Food cravings: Chili has been a huge staple the last few days, though that may be more a function of convenience than cravings. Either way, baby is getting some hearty meals!

Gender: We should find...

Alexa Georgoulis Feature

Uncategorized Jan 15, 2017

I am really excited for today’s feature! I have been following Alexa (@alexa_georgoulis) on Instagram since I was pregnant with my son. I found it inspirational that she was safely doing Crossfit while pregnant, and was excited when I learned she had an impressive running background. I found that many of our thoughts align: no off limit or “bad” foods, don’t eat until you are sick, and look for the vitamins or micronutrients your food has to offer you most of the time. She has an almost two year old who attends many of her workouts, and she is training to qualify for the Crossfit Team Regionals. Her running background is so impressive and I know you will love learning about her training and nutrition as much as I did!

Can you tell us a little bit about your running background. When did you start running and how did you make the jump to ultra marathons?

I started out running track and cross country in high school. In college, I still ran to stay in shape and...

Healthy Pregnancy 2 – 17 Weeks

Uncategorized Jan 11, 2017

How far along? 17 Weeks

Baby Size: According to “The Bump” baby is the size of a pomegranate.

Weight gain: 3.5lbs

Maternity clothes? Still too big for regular clothes, still too small for maternity clothes. Leggings and long shirts for the win!

Belly Button in or out? Out

Best moment this week: Running 5 miles and eating a lot more nourishing meals. While I know my energy will continue to increase, the moderate influx of energy has been nice!

Miss Anything? Not feeling 35 weeks pregnant after doing some extra cleaning around the house! Yesterday I did my workout then spent 2 hours taking down decorations and cleaning the house. My calves were sore the rest of the day and I woke up today still exhausted. This was a third trimester issue for me last time!

Movement: Still just a few flutters occasionally.

Food cravings: I have thankfully just been craving hearty, vegetable filled meals.

Gender: We should find out in about 2...

Healthy Pregnancy 2 – Week 16

Uncategorized Jan 04, 2017

How far along? 16 Weeks

Baby Size: According to “The Bump” baby is the size of an avocado.

Weight gain: 6lbs

Maternity clothes? Not quite yet. Leggings, yoga pants, and running pants are my M.O. right now.

Belly Button in or out? Out

Best moment this week: Feeling energized enough to get in a 4 mile run AND cook a few (crockpot) meals.

Miss Anything? Energy still eludes me. I wake up full of energy, but it only lasts for 4-5 hours.

Movement: I felt a few more very faint flutters this week. It is strange having felt the flutters so early this time. Once I noticed them with my son, they were pretty consistent; however, I felt them later meaning he was bigger.

Food cravings: I really wanted a tuna fish sandwich, so I finally made that. Otherwise, we have been having a lot of chili. I’m not sure if that’s a craving or convenience thing though.

Gender: Either pregnancy brain or plain ol’ being Kristen had me...

Healthy Pregnancy 2 – 15 Weeks

Uncategorized Dec 28, 2016

How far along? 15 Weeks

Baby Size: According to “The Bump” baby is the size of an orange.

Weight gain: 3lbs

Maternity clothes? I’m still rocking leggings and huge sweaters. I received a nice maternity long sleeve that I can actually wear now, which is nice. Otherwise, I’m in the in between phase where normal clothes are not comfortable but maternity clothes make me look like a child playing dress up.

Belly Button in or out? Out

Best moment this week: Feeling another flutter!

Miss Anything? Being interested in eating. If someone cooks for me, I can eat. Otherwise, I am mostly snacking and really struggling to put the effort into cooking or thinking ahead for meals.

Movement: I felt a flutter two weeks ago, and again this week. Baby is growing!

Food cravings: I really wanted a tuna fish sandwich yesterday….

Gender: We should find out in about 3 weeks!

Looking forward to: Preparing Nate for his little...
