Healthy Pregnancy – 37 Weeks

Uncategorized Mar 15, 2015

How far along? 37 weeks. I am considered term, according to the woman who ran our birthing class. She said term is 37 weeks and full term is 40 weeks. I see a lot of conflicting internet information, so I may be off, but this is what we learned in birthing class.

Baby Size: Winter Melon

Weight gain: 22

Maternity clothes? Maternity clothes and huge sweats and tees. I’ve moved on from yoga pants because I don’t want to stretch them out too much, or have them roll down into an embarrassing moment.

Belly Button in or out? Out

Best moment this week: Another great baby shower thrown by the ladies of THREE! There were a lot of bees

 πŸ™‚

Miss Anything? Having a full range of motion. I am still not as uncomfortable as I was expecting to be at this point, but some days I would be happy to not have to fold myself into a pretzel to tie my shoes, or needing assistance rolling from one side to the other in bed.

Movement: He has such parties in...

Healthy Pregnancy – 36 Weeks

Uncategorized Mar 08, 2015

How far along? 36 Weeks (9 months!)

Baby Size: Canary Melon

Weight gain: 19.5lbs

Maternity clothes? I deck out in maternity clothes. I also bought a belly sports bra, which has alleviated a lot of pelvic discomfort after working out.

Belly Button in or out? Out

Best moment this week: Getting to hear his heartbeat. I will get to have an appointment every week now, and it will never get old hearing his heartbeat! Also, getting our bag fully packed for the hospital. I like checking things off my list.

Miss Anything? Energy. I feel like I am back in my first trimester with the amount of sleep I get/feel I need.

Movement: Lots of wiggles and early morning dance moves. Apparently running does not put him to sleep anymore.

Food cravings: Anything with a little cheese and/or taco seasoning.

Gender: Boy!

Looking forward to: Getting the car seats inspected this week so we will be officially ready (very early) in case he has an unexpected, early...

Healthy Pregnancy – 35 Weeks

How far along? 35 Weeks

Baby Size: A coconut

Weight gain: 19lbs

Maternity clothes? Yes, and I found my bellyband, so I am able to wear some jeans with that.

Belly Button in or out? Out

Best moment this week: My doctor’s appointment! I got to hear his heartbeat and find out how he is positioned. He is head down!

Miss Anything? Being able to sit in an upright position for more than ten minutes.

Movement: He’s very squirmy, and we finally saw a foot sticking out (usually we see a full limb like a leg, vs a hand or foot).

Food cravings: No cravings to speak of, though I do appreciate anything that is easy to make/can pop right in the microwave.

Gender: Boy!

Looking forward to: Slowing down over the next few weeks, and finishing food prep.

This week I began my food prep for when the baby arrives. I know he will be receiving most of my energy, but I also know it will be so important for me to be eating well in order to pass...

Healthy Pregnancy – 34 Weeks

Uncategorized Feb 22, 2015

Baby Size: A butternut squash

Weight gain: 18.5lbs

Maternity clothes? Not only am I committed to maternity clothes at this point, I have pretty much one pair of pants that I wear consistently (besides workout pants of course).

Belly Button in or out? You can see it through two layers (shirt and hoodie).

Best moment this week: We finished setting up the baby’s room!

Miss Anything? I actually feel like my energy levels are pretty solid, and I have always had to get up to pee during the night, so that has not hindered my sleep very much. I am having another week of not really missing anything!

Movement: He’s pretty active in general, but some days he’s squirming from when I wake up until when I fall asleep.

Food cravings: I think I am finally over my cereal cravings. I have not had any major cravings this week (Between no cravings and not missing anything, I am pretty boring this week!).

Gender: Boy!

Looking forward to:...

Baby Size: A Durian

Weight gain: 19lbs

Maternity clothes? Fully committed to maternity clothes at this point.

Belly Button in or out? So far out.

Best moment this week: Running a 5k. It was awesome how excited random people get to see a pregnant woman exercising. There was a lot of cheering and excitement from random people. It was also nice to have an active Valentine’s Day hiking in Ojai and exploring a little bit.

Crossing 5K Finish Line 32 Weeks +3 Days Pregnant

Miss Anything? Air. In the past three days I have officially hit the point where my lungs are no longer my own.

Movement: He is a very squirmy little guy, particularly when I first wake up and right before bed.

Food cravings: I am still into my cereal (Fiber One and Rice Biscuits).

Gender: Boy!

Looking forward to: Finishing up the final touches on that baby’s room! I am pretty sure we should be able to finish it up this week.

Healthy Pregnancy – 32 Weeks

Baby Size: A spaghetti squash

Weight gain: Staying steady at 17lbs

Maternity clothes? Yep. I don’t want to stretch out all of my regular clothes!

Belly Button in or out? So far out.

Best moment this week: Making some major progress on the baby’s room with Pat and starting a baby book. It is wonderful to no longer have clothes all over his room and to finally have them put away!

Miss Anything? Having a brain. This week I thought we had signed up for a 5k, but it turns out the 5k we signed up for is in May. How I got February 7 and May 16 mixed-up is beyond me.

Movement: There is a lot of movement, and it is getting super strong.

Food cravings: I am still digging my bland cereals. Otherwise, I am focusing on eating balanced meals with a lot of vegetables.

Gender: Boy!

Looking forward to: Finishing the baby’s room this week hopefully.

The following is a more in depth explanation of what I went through early in my pregnancy with...

Healthy Pregnancy – 31 Weeks

Uncategorized Feb 02, 2015

Baby Size: A coconut

Weight gain: Not sure – about 17lbs I think.

Maternity clothes? I am rocking maternity clothes, and I also bought the most comfortable, best fitting pants of my life this week. www.mybuskins.com They are super comfy, fit over my pregnant belly, and are long enough for me (don’t worry short people, they would be a good length for you too!).

Belly Button in or out? Forever out.

Best moment this week: I was able to get in what will probably be my last four mile run of the pregnancy. It was a decent pace and I felt great! I also got to help out at the Surf-City Marathon this weekend, and it felt great to be surrounded by runners since I will not be running a half marathon this February.

Miss Anything? There are definitely times when I miss certain things, but for the most part, this week I am just so happy to be carrying this little guy around with me and love feeling him squirm around that I forget about some of...

Baby Size: Butternut Squash

Weight gain: 16lbs

Maternity clothes? I have given in to the maternity side of things, though I still wear my yoga pants a lot.

Belly Button in or out? This week my doctor pushed my belly button in, then told me “don’t worry, it will go back in.” Sorry sir, but it will never be all the way in.

Best moment this week: My beautiful West coast baby shower. It is amazing how much excitement people shower you with over an unborn baby. It was nice.

Miss Anything? Having a functional brain. Please tell me I am not the only pregnant person who not only lost the ability to remember words, but who has also lost the ability to remember anything or functionally complete a task. I know it is because of the hormones, but this is crazy!

Movement: I just love feeling all of his movement.

Food cravings: I have not necessarily been craving anything, but my impulse control is way down. I did have some of the best pancakes...

Healthy Pregnancy – 29 Weeks

Uncategorized Jan 18, 2015

How far along? 29 Weeks.

Baby Size: Acorn Squash

Weight gain: We are traveling this week, so no scale access. Last week I was hanging tight at 12.5lbs, but my belly had grown a full inch!

Maternity clothes? I am more committed to dabbling in the maternity clothes that I have; however, I would still prefer yoga pants. Most of my shirts are not long enough to cover my growing belly – thankfully Pat came home with some new shirts for me this week.

Belly Button in or out? Out

Best moment this week: Heading up to Mammoth and finding new activities that are pregnancy safe. I have been wanting to go snowshoeing for years, but never got around to it. Now I can check that off my list of activities I have tried, and it was much safer than downhill skiing.

Miss Anything? Energy. I was cheated of energy! I did not get the second trimester burst until 18 weeks, and as soon as I hit 28 weeks exhaustion set in!

Movement: His activity is so different than...

Healthy Pregnancy – 28 Weeks

Uncategorized Jan 11, 2015

How far along? 28 Weeks. Hello third trimester!

Baby Size: Eggplant

Weight gain: 12.5lbs

Maternity clothes? I’m not into the maternity clothes. I wear them sometimes, but they just make me feel fat, not pregnant. I like yoga pants and workout clothes.

Belly Button in or out? Amusingly out.

Best moment this week: Going to Boston where my family and friends threw an amazing baby shower!

Miss Anything? More than 5 hours of sleep at night! I was hoping to make it a few more weeks before my brain starts racing the second I wake up.

Movement: He is doing misty flips in there and everything – I can even feel him hiccupping. I am excited some people got to feel his movement this weekend.

Food cravings: I could really go for a Pick Pockets super veggie wrap. I wish that place was still open πŸ™

Gender: Boy!

Looking forward to: Getting to set up the nursery more in the next few weeks, and having everything ready.

We started our...
