3:00 Plank

2016 is officially upon us and I thought I would start the year off by trying to complete one of my 16 fitness goals for 2016. I meant to try it first thing in the morning before my run, but I was to excited to run, and completely forgot! After I stretched and refueled I decided to give the 3:00 plank a try.

There’s only so much you can write about doing a plank, but here’s what was going on for me: going into it, I was hoping to finish but was leaning more toward the fact that I would likely not complete it, and would have to try again at a later date. I had my mother-in-law timing it for me (and taking pictures, obviously!). At one point I asked (yelled) “time?!”to which she replied, “you have been holding it for 1:15.” WHAT?!?! Certainly it’s been close to 10 minutes at this point! My arms are on fire, but I am not going to give up. It’s just three minutes. Just do it. I thought to myself. I can be stubborn at times.

Turned out, there was 1:15 REMAINING, which is a world of difference! When I got to the last 30 seconds I knew I would make it. It’s amazing to me that three minutes can feel like an eternity, but I am pretty excited to have begun the year with one goal completed! One down, fifteen to go.
